After the funeral, Hiruzen took Naruto to Konoha Hospital where he was being watched by his mother's best friend, Uchiha Mikoto and Mikoto's oldest son, Uchiha Itachi. At the funeral of all the victims that were kill that night, Naruto was seen wrap in an orange blanket inside of a basket being placed where the Will of Fire sign was at. Therefore Hiruzen wanted to protect Naruto from his father's enemies. Before Kushina died (as Hiruzen wanted to take her to the hospital so she can be healed and hopefully raise her son as a single parent for his sake) she only remained alive long enough to tell Hiruzen her son's name, and her final request was for Hiruzen to protect Naruto, in which Hiruzen agreed as Kushina dies afterwards with a smile on her face. He only received his mother's last name as Hiruzen believed it was best that nobody knew about Naruto being related to the Fourth Hokage. Now orphaned, Naruto was left to grow up knowing nothing of his parents. Before dying, Minato told Naruto how much he and his mother loved him, then had sealed his and Kushina's chakra inside of him.
But not before succumbing to his wounds alongside Kushina after taking a fatal blow from the fox that was meant for their son. He put the Yin half inside himself, and the Yang half in Naruto. Because Kurama's chakra was too immense for the seal to hold for a newborn infant, Minato was forced to sacrifice his own soul in order to first weaken the fox by splitting its Yin and Yang chakra amongst himself and his son. Minato therefore realized that the only way to stop Kurama for good was to seal it within Naruto, after believing that his son would someday need the fox's power to defeat Obito when he returned. After having to severed Obito's control over the tailed beast, he brought Naruto and Kushina to his location. Minato had managed to save Kushina and left Naruto in her care before he went out to protect the village. However by the time he had secured Naruto at a safer location, Obito had already succeeded in releasing Kurama and even used it to devastate Konoha. Minato quickly sprung into action to save Naruto from the paper bombed blanket that he was in, and he had brought him to a safe house so he can be safe there for now. All in order to release Kurama for his own personal needs. Uchiha Obito, who managed to track down their location, killed the midwives and the Anbu then he took the newborn hostage as a means of separating Minato from Kushina. Shortly after Naruto was born on the night of October 10th in which was known as the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha. While fearful that the stress of giving birth would break the seal containing Kurama, the Third Hokage strictly arranged for Naruto's parents to go to a top secret location on the outskirts of the village while being guarded by multiple Anbu, with the two midwives Sarutobi Biwako and Taji helping Kushina out in delivering her child while Minato would keep the seal in place. He was named after the main character of Jiraiya's first published book The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi, therefore making the legendary Sannin his godfather.
Naruto is the only son and child of Namikaze Minato, and Uzumaki Kushina.
